Freakier Friday

Rating: 4 out of 5.

SO many hilarious moments of this movie. I was a huge fan of the first movie so I had instant nostalgia. Sequels are one of the hardest things for filmmakers, but they pulled it off pretty well with this one.

The movie starts off with the young daughters swapping bodies with the mom and grandma and vice versa. It was very funny watching the young girls trying to sabotage their elders and embarrass them.

The film balanced being able to honor the original movie while also giving a fresh new chapter of new jokes and unexpected situations. I think this movie may have had more humor and heart than even the first one did. Instead of two characters being affected by the sudden change in identity, there were four which I believe brought more of an emotional pull throughout the film.

As funny as the movie was, it was also a very heartfelt movie that shows the struggles of being a single mom, as well as having an absent father and mother in the girls childhood. The ending was perfect in my opinion, it was predictable but in movies like this one that’s just how it should be.

* Honorable mention for the “Take Me Away” performance at the end of the movie which was phenomenal. *
